Visual merchandising (or, silent selling) is not just about floor plans, window displays, and inventory management. Nor is it just about making spaces beautiful. I don’t believe its importance will ever disappear with the rise of online shopping. It only means we need to be better at creating a beautiful and tactile in-store experience. Otherwise, why leave our beds and wifi? VM, done well, contributes to the look and feel of a brand as much as a perfectly curated Instagram account. VM, done very well, is about creating and predicting behavior, (and then capitalizing on it.)
